About Me

I am an accredited BACP counsellor with a rich educational background and a broad spectrum of qualifications including membership of the BPS, accreditation as an EMDR Europe Practitioner and certifications in couples and relationship counselling.

My academic journey includes a Master’s degree in Psychology which I received with distinction in 2009 and a postgraduate degree I completed in 2016. In 2018 I completed an advanced diploma in integrative counselling. Since 2009 I have supported clients through a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, PTSD, phobias, panic attacks, abuse and relational issues.

Since 2018, EMDR has been central to my daily practice, assisting clients with recent challenges through standard EMDR techniques or addressing deeper, childhood-rooted issues with Attachment EMDR. With over 4000 successful EMDR sessions, my work extends across NHS (IAPT), charities (Mind), and private practice, offering a warm and practical approach to healing.

My training in couples therapy includes specialized courses from institutions such as the Tavistock Institute, the Grove Institute, the Couples Institute as well as professional training with Esther Perel. My expertise includes improving communication, resolving conflicts, infidelity, rebuilding trust, navigating differences in sexual needs, different values, parenting styles and understanding the impact of external factors like family, finances, lifestyle and culture on relationships.

My Approach

My background is in science and I am fascinated by the brain’s processes of handling feelings and thoughts. I believe in assisting you in developing your emotional vocabulary so you can establish healthier and more meaningful connections with others. However, this alone may not be sufficient. Based on my training I hold the belief that our reactions are not solely determined by bad things that happened to us in the past. Sometimes it’s also about the good experiences that didn’t occur, such as lacking comfort and understanding. This delves deeper into addressing a very important question: How did we learn to manage our fear, unsafety or anger when faced with adversity or when positive experiences were absent? This is where I can provide assistance.

I’m committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their challenges and work towards meaningful change. Your trust and comfort are of paramount importance and I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey towards healing and growth.

"We had been stuck in different conflicts for years which felt impossible to resolve. Tara’s approach was spot on and we were blown away by how the issues were resolved in just a few sessions. Honestly, it felt like magic." Couples, London.
